"The church was organized about 1833 under the administration of Rev Edward Taylor. Earlier church records show that Thomas Taylor was the first class leader and members of that class were; Hames & Hattie Taylor, Henry & Suzanne George, Benjamin & Nancy Elliott, and Jane Jackman.
A small log cabin was built for a meetinghouse and the cornerstones may still be seen on the front lawn. On the deed there is no mention of burial ground but at that time it was customary to use a part of the church grounds for burying the dead.
The markers bear the ancestral names of; Riley, McClain, Gregg, Jackson, Henderson. Mr. Patterson dug many a grave accepting no pay. A brother of Jim Striker’s was the first one to be buried in this cemetery.”
