This cemetery is well taken care of by the Posgai Family and a bronze marker for Jacob Martin (1742 – 1830), who was a Revolutionary War Captain proven to be buried in this cemetery will be installed. It is also said Jacob Martin was the first judge of the first court in Jefferson County in 1795. Jacob Martin’s family consists of most burials there and only a couple of the Scamahorn family. Legend states that Jacob Martin’s son Dunham Martin (1769 – 1827) had seven wives! Three of his wives were buried next to him in the cemetery.
