Bob Hobson submitting the following information:
Information concerning Mary Stewart Hague's death.
She died on 4 Oct 1873 in Salem, Columbiana County, Ohio from typhoid fever. She left her husband, John Lupton Hague, with two small daughters. He placed the girls with relatives. I have seen an article at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ohjeffer/GAR/jlhague.html that said John L. Hague suffered "paralysis of the limbs" from his service in the Civil War. That may explain why he sent his daughters to live with relatives. Anne went to live with her mother's sister and her husband George W. Manley and Angeline A. Stewart Manley. The infant daughter, Nina Russell, went to live with her mother's brother and his wife, Hudson and Susan Stewart. I think they gave her the name Mary and nicknamed her Mayme. John Lupton Hague seems to disappear after his wife's death until he marries Ella J. Wyant on 26 Oct 1887 in Jefferson Co. OH. He dies in 1889.
I don't know if you can find an obituary for Mary Stewart Hague since her death seems to have occurred in Columbiana Co. but any information you may run across would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert Hobson, Ed.D.
