(Information & photo submitted by Janice Montgomery, Montg9999@aol.com) Jacob Ong served in the Revolutionary War and is buried in Jefferson County. He was born in 1760 and died in 1849. Jacob served the cause from the age of sixteen until the war was over. He started as a messenger and then joined the Pennsylvania Line when he was old enough. He and his wife, Mary McGrew Ong, moved to Jefferson County around 1803 and raised their family here and remained here until the time of their deaths. (Following the Revolutionary War, Jacob denounced his military service, saying he had done a bad thing in fighting in a war, and reverted back to the Quaker religion.) He designed and built the Yearly Meetinghouse in Mt. Pleasant, Ohio.
