Fowler Family buried at Island Creek Pres Cemetery

Deed between James Fowler and William Dobbs.

The deed referenced is dated March 1811 but at the bottom states that it was recorded the 30th of April, 1812 by Isaac Kerr which I think is a Washington Co PA name unless they too came to Jefferson with my Risingers and the Grims.

Those three families seem to quite entangled inWashington PA. The deed also mentions John Buchannon, Justice of
the Peace. The is a reference written on the front of: F-W--448 (I think)

General Notes Captain Nathan Wintringer, Veteran River man -- First Will Recorded
Captain Nathan Wintringer . . . was among the pioneer residents. He was a boat builder and died about 1852. During the War of 1812 he served as Lieutenant in the company that went out from here. The captain was Nicholas Murray, James Fowler, ensign, and Joseph Bachelor, sergeant. Pioneer Days 1930's found at digitalshoebox.org.

Jefferson County Ohio Newspaper Extracts 1817-1820; pg. 6 Notice: James Fowler wishes his friends to know his property is for sale by the sheriff not because of his own debt, but for Henry Fisher's for whom he became a surety through persuasion. (11/28/1818) found on dititalshoebox.org.

He served in The War of 1812 and enlisted 25 Aug 1812 and was discharged 25 Dec 1812.
