World War II
WINDTALKERS – DVD – Recorded August, 2007 at Gold Coast Community College, Panama City, Florida. The following information was submitted by long time chapter member, Norma Cost, formerly of Toronto, Ohio. Norma sent me a wonderful DVD movie which includes information about the much acclaimed “Windtalkers” movie that was set during WWII and the DVD focuses on her sister, Winnie Moore Breegle, who is also a chapter member. Please feel free to contact Norma or Winnie if you are interested in learning more about the DVD or would like to request a copy.
Winnie was an ensign in the Waves during World War II. She now works at the Gulf Coast Community College, Panama City, FL, as a learning specialist.
The DVD presentation tells her story and experiences during the war, while she was stationed in the Baltimore-Washington area. She was in the communications area and worked with codes and was a courier to the War Dept. She was familiar with, and dispatched messages to the Navajo Code Talkers. If you’ve seen the movie, Wind Talkers, which is about the Navajo, you would enjoy learning about the part they played in the War.
