Thomas Hervey – Veteran of the Civil War – He is buried in the Piney Fork Cemetery in Smithfield Township. Note the flag and GAR marker. The flag was donated by Mr. Byron E. Mohr, veteran. Mr. Mohr took the GAR shield and cleaned it and hand painted it and then returned it with honor and a salute.This tombstone is made of thick marble and is broken off from its original base. The stone has been cleaned and will be reset. A sign has been installed at the entrance of the cemetery and plans continue for restoration of this old pioneer cemetery.
