These records are housed at the Jefferson County Chapter, OGS. If you would like to request a copy of a file, contact the chapter office by emailing your File number and the name of the person on the file at jeffersoncounty1@att.net . The cost of copies are $1.00 a page (plus mailing/postage fees). Many files have many pages and other files have very few. It is best to email us so that a volunteer can pull the file and reply to your email to inform you how many papers are in the file that you are requesting. These copies are legal size and one sided.

Please keep in mind that the office is manned by volunteers on Tuesday and Thursday only so your patience may be required to receive any requested copies

 Note  - This index is not all inclusive. Many wills are missing and many others can be located in the Estate/Probate Packet Files as well as in the Common Pleas Journals. All of these records are housed at the Jefferson County Genealogy Society (as of Jan 2015).

The Will Index was compiled by Elder Garold and Kris Bell who were serving as senior missionaries in the Wintersville Ward in Jefferson County, Ohio for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Jan 2014 to Jan 2015. We would like to thank them for their service and volunteerism in our office during their year here in the Wintersville Ward.

(Many files are missing. They were missing when the chapter obtained them from the courthouse). These files are housed at the Jefferson County Chapter, OGS office as of Jan 2015. We would like to thank Gerold and Kris Bell and the Elders (missionaries) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for all their work in compiling this huge index. The Bell's served in the Wintersville Ward for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Jan 2014 to Jan 2015 and while in Jefferson County, Ohio volunteered in the chapter office every Tuesday for the entire year. While they volunteered, they worked on this Master Index. It was a labor of love and devotion on their part and a huge task.

Note - All of the Probate/Estate Files have been digitized by Bill and Beverly Pace, while they were serving their mission in the Wintersville, Ohio Ward. They digitized over 1 million images/pieces of paper. You can use the Master Probate/Estate Files Index here to search for your ancestors original files/images at www.familysearch.org.
